Update
Since version 12.1 of our free Loxone Config, this has the new "Irrigation" function module. This takes care of the optimal water supply and makes the implementation of automated irrigation even easier.
Challenge: automatic garden irrigation
If the lawn suffers from a lack of water in summer, this is noticeable in unsightly brown areas, weeds and insufficient growth. To save you that, we will show you in this application example how you can implement automatic garden irrigation with Loxone.
Solution: Realization of intelligent irrigation with Loxone
In our example, the garden is watered using a rainwater tank. The tank comes with a Ultrasonic sensor equipped to check the water level. If the water level is too low, there will be no irrigation. The water level can be viewed at any time in the visualization.
Automatic watering can be activated in a number of ways. Either by means of weather forecast via the Weather station / Weather service or via moisture sensors in the ground. Two hours before sunrise, watering takes place under the following conditions:
- if there is enough water in the tank (is by means of Ultrasonic sensor measured)
- when it is not raining (measured by the weather station / weather service)
- if the soil is not moist enough (measured by a moisture sensor)
- if it does not rain more than 2 liters per square meter in the next 4 hours
- if there is no risk of frost (if the temperature does not fall below 4 ° C)
Irrigation ends at sunrise. You can also water the garden time-dependently or manually via Loxone app activate. If the above conditions are not met, irrigation will not take place.
All four water valves are connected to a radio button module. Each of the four valves alternately irrigates the garden every 60 seconds.
In addition, if there is a risk of frost, the water in the pipes is blown out with air for 5 minutes so that the water pipes are not damaged by the frost.
Hardware :
- Mini server
- Tree Extension
- Ultrasonic sensor
- Weather station Tree / Weather service
- Soil moisture sensor (0-10V)
- Valves (4 water valves, 1 main water valve, 1 air valve)
